# Create a group pass using a standard pass product

Creating a group pass can help you manage ticket sales for large groups, offer discounts and ensure compliance with event requirements. This article explains how to use the advanced settings of a [standard pass](/v1/docs/create-your-standard-pass-products) ticket variation to create various types of group passes.

Group passes are designed to simplify the ticket purchasing process for groups, apply discounts and enforce rules such as minimum and maximum purchase limits. Below are some common scenarios and solutions for creating group passes.

## Create minimum and maximum purchase limits

### Scenario 1

You want to encourage large groups to purchase tickets. Normally, tickets are $15 each, but you want to offer a **Group** **discount** where a minimum booking of 10 tickets costs $10 per person.

### Solution

1. Create a pass variation called **Group** **Discount** **Admission** within your standard pass.
2. Set the price lower than the price of the separate **General** **Admission** ticket.
3. Select the **options** **menu (3 dots)** for the group discount ticket variation to edit its ticket settings.
4. Select **Show** **advanced** **options**.
5. Set the **Minimum** **purchase** to 10.

### Scenario 2

Your event requires grouping people, such as in a table scenario, where each table must have a fixed number of attendees.

### Solution

1. Create a pass variation for each table size. For example, for a table of 10, select **Show** **advanced** **options** to set both the **Minimum** and **Maximum** **purchase** to 10.
2. If you have varying table sizes, create new pass variations for each size. For example, for a table of 6, set both the **Minimum** and **Maximum** **purchase** to 6.
3. To calculate the total quantity, multiply the number of tables by the minimum or maximum number of seats per table. For example, if you have 10 tables of 10, uncheck **Unlimited**, then set the total **Quantity** to 100.

## Make a ticket compulsory

### Scenario

You require a minimum number of adults to attend an event. For example, if children are attending, at least 1 adult must accompany them.

### Solution

1. Create a pass variation where you enter the **Minimum Purchase** as 1 for the adult ticket in its advanced options.
2. Check the **Make ticket compulsory** setting in advanced ticket settings.

This ensures that a minimum purchase of 1 ticket is automatically added to the guest's cart at checkout. This can also be used for other compulsory fees, such as room hire.

## Create a group pass

### Scenario

You offer a group pass for a set number of guests, such as a family of 4 pass.

### Solution

1. Create a ticket variation and set the total price for the number of guests included in the pass. For example, a family pass for 4 guests (2 Adults + 2 children or 1 Adult + 3 children) is $120 for all 4 guests.
2. Check the **Group** **pass** option in the variation's advanced options.
3. Enter the number of guests the pass admits (eg 4).

This setup ensures the group pass covers the total number of guests as specified.
