A guest books online or at the counter, checks in, and their name appears on your race schedule ready to be assigned a kart. This article sequences the setup from install through to your first race, and links to the guide for each step. ## About ROLLER Karting ROLLER Karting connects your track's timing system to ROLLER, so the bookings you already take create races on your schedule automatically. Staff spend their time getting drivers into karts rather than retyping names between two systems. The work splits into two halves: - **Configure:** mostly done during onboarding, then revisited as things change. You install the software, describe your track and your race formats, connect your ROLLER products to them, and add your karts. - **Operate:** done every day. Your staff open the schedule, assign drivers to karts, and run races. ## Step 1: Set up your venue Work through these in order. Each one builds on the last, so skipping ahead usually means coming back. 1. Once a guest is checked in and their waiver is assigned, their name appears against the race in ROLLER Karting automatically. There's no separate check-in step for karting. **What happens if we lose internet during a session?** Race scheduling and timing run locally on your venue's Windows machine, so you can keep running races and capturing data, then reconcile once you're back online. Cloud access is only needed for features like online leaderboards and syncing new bookings. **Do we have to complete every setup step before we open?** No. Steps 1 to 5 are what a booking needs to become a race. Display screens and maintenance alerts improve the guest and staff experience, and can be set up once you're running. **Who needs access to set this up?** Setup is done by someone signed in as an admin, or with settings access.
