# How do I change the expiration date of a gift card?

## Introduction

Updating the expiration date on gift cards can help re-engage inactive guests and drive return visits, maintaining goodwill with guests who may not have been able to visit by their gift card expiration date.

## Solution

You can change the **expiry date** of a gift card by editing the booking where the card was issued.

> If a gift card has already expired, the gift card cannot be reactivated. You can [issue a new complimentary gift card](/v1/docs/can-i-issue-a-gift-card-as-a-gift-or-donation) as a replacement.

## Changing the expiration date of a gift card

1. From Venue Manager, select the **Search** bar at the top left.
2. Search using the gift card number, booking name or ID number.
3. Select the booking in question from the search results.
4. Select the **Items** tab on the booking.
5. Select the **options** **menu** (3 dots) on the row with the gift card item.
6. Select **View item**.
7. Select the **Edit** icon.
8. Change the **Expiry date**.
9. Select **Save**. The update appears in the booking activity stream.
