# Manage and optimize price rules

You can view, edit, and refine your price rules at any time to keep your pricing strategy working efficiently — across all products, venues and sales channels.

## Manage all existing rules from one place

The **All price rules** page is your central hub for managing all your pricing rules.

From Venue Manager, go to **Products** > **Price rules** > **All rules**. This page lists every rule you've created, its type and which products it’s linked to.

> [!NOTE]
> This makes it easy to **stay on top of your pricing strategy**, make updates when needed and make sure pricing is consistent across products.

**View and edit price rules**

**View or rename a rule**

- **To view:** Select any rule from the list to open its settings.
- **To rename:** Open a rule, edit the **Name** field, and save. You can do this at any time, and it will not affect any linked products.

**Update prices for an applied rule**

You can change the dollar amount for any tier at any time without unlinking the rule.

1. Go to **Products** > **All products** and select the product using the rule.
2. Scroll to the **Variations** table.
3. Enter the new prices in the columns for each tier (eg change the "Weekend" tier price from $22 to $23).
4. Select **Save**.
5. Changes will only apply to new bookings. Existing bookings will retain their original pricing.

**Edit a rule's settings (tiers, schedules or lead times)**

You cannot edit a rule's core settings — such as its quantity tiers, time schedules, or lead-time windows—while it is linked to any product. **To edit a rule's settings, you must first remove it from all products.**

1. Go to **Products** > **Price rules** > **All rules**.
2. Find the rule you want to edit and check the linked products column.
3. Go to **each product** listed and change its **Price rule** setting back to **Fixed price**. Save each product.
4. Return to the **All rules** page. The rule will now show "0" linked products.
5. Select the rule. You can now edit its tiers, schedules, or other settings.

**Delete a rule**

You can only delete a rule that is not applied to any products. Follow the same steps above to remove the rule from all linked products first, then return to the **All rules** page to delete it.

**How price rules apply across sales channels**

Once a price rule is applied to a product, ROLLER automatically updates pricing across all major sales channels.

| Channel | How pricing updates |
| --- | --- |
| Online checkout | Guests see live price changes as they add tickets or select dates/times. |
| POS | Staff see the correct per-ticket price based on the price rule. A message confirms the rule is applied. |
| Venue Manager | Manual bookings automatically use the tier pricing based on the price rule. |
| Online accounts (if enabled) | Guests changing bookings see prices automatically adjust (except early bird, which stays fixed at the original booking price). |

**Optimize your rules: Best practices**

**For quantity-based rules**

- **Keep tiers simple:** Start with 2-3 clear tiers (eg 1–4, 5–9, 10+).
- **Use descriptive names:** Use names like "Bulk Ticket Saver" or "Buy More, Save More."
- **Promote the savings:** Highlight group savings (eg "5+ tickets save $3 per ticket") in your product descriptions.
- **Monitor performance:** Review reports to see which tier is booked most often. If guests frequently book just **below** a discount tier (eg many 4-person bookings), consider adjusting the threshold (eg change "5–9" to "4–9") to encourage more sales.

**For time-based rules**

- **Start simple:** Begin with broad tiers (eg Weekday vs. Weekend) before adding granular rules like "Evening peak" or special dates.
- **Keep tier names clear:** Use names like "Weekend Premium," "Off-Peak," or "Holiday."
- **Promote your savings:** Turn on the **Show price comparisons** option (for session passes) to display highlights in the checkout, encouraging guests to book at quiet times.
- **Clean up date groups:** Regularly remove past event periods (eg "Easter 2024") to keep your configuration tidy and prevent old rules from applying.
- **Understand rule priority:** Custom date overrides (eg "School Holidays") always take precedence over recurring days (eg "Weekend").

**For early bird rules**

- **Use clear windows:** Use simple, easy-to-communicate windows (eg "Book 7+ days early," "Book 14+ days ahead").
- **Promote the offer:** Use the **Highlight early bird pricing on checkout** option in the product settings or promote the savings in your marketing.
- **Monitor booking lead time:** Has your average booking lead time increased? If not, you may need to experiment with a longer window (eg 10+ days) or a larger discount to incentivize guests.

**Review and refine your pricing strategy**

- **Check your data:** Review attendance, sales and performance reports to see if attendance has shifted across tiers or time slots. Identify underperforming products and update their pricing.
- **Optimize continuously:** Adjust the price **difference** between tiers. For example, if peak demand is still strong, you could increase the gap between your off-peak and peak prices.
- **Control access:** Limit "Can manage price rules" permissions to pricing managers or administrators to protect consistency across your venues.
