# Why am I getting a certificate error for ROLLER Connect?

> [!WARNING]
> **Effective May 29, 2026**. ROLLER Connect has been updated to the latest version (**ROLLER Connect Legacy** version 2.0.332 & **ROLLER Connect Windows Service** version 3.1.267) with a valid certificate. If you are still running an older version of either **ROLLER Connect Legacy** or **ROLLER Connect Windows Service**, please [follow the steps below to reinstall from POS](/v1/docs/why-am-i-getting-a-certificate-error-for-roller-connect#reinstall-roller-connect-on-the-affected-pos-device).

> [!WARNING]
> **Effective May 26, 2026**. This article details a workaround for a known issue affecting a small number of POS devices from a recent ROLLER Connect update. A permanent fix is being rolled out in an upcoming release. If you're still seeing this error, follow the steps below to resolve it and if you need assistance [contact the ROLLER support team](/v1/docs/contact-roller-support).

## Introduction

A recent ROLLER Connect release was distributed with a code-signing certificate that's no longer valid. POS devices that downloaded the update, typically overnight or when the device was turned on the day of the issue, display a certificate validation error the next time ROLLER Connect tries to start. The auto-updater has since been paused to prevent more devices from picking up the affected version, and a corrected build will be published in an upcoming release.

## Solution

Uninstall the affected version of ROLLER Connect on each impacted POS device, then reinstall with the version from **Hardware** settings in POS. The download link in POS points to a working version, so a fresh install resolves the certificate error and restores receipt and docket printing.

## Reinstall ROLLER Connect on the affected POS device

1. On the affected POS device, close ROLLER POS.
2. From the Windows **Start** menu, search for **Add or remove programs** and open it.
3. Select **ROLLER Connect** (or **ROLLER Connect Windows Service**) in the list and select **Uninstall**. Follow the prompts to complete the uninstall.
4. Open ROLLER POS and sign in with a ROLLER administrator account.
5. Select **More** > **Settings** > **Hardware**.
6. Select the download link for your version — **Download ROLLER Connect Windows Service** or **Download ROLLER Connect Legacy** — to download the setup file. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/23700755-951c-4b69-8afe-ec8b33c6c689/Images/Documentation/16284415039375.gif)
