In this guide, you will learn how to lock down your self-serve kiosk using kiosk mode to make sure guests cannot navigate away.
Set up Google Chrome on your device
Bookmark & create a SSK shortcut
- On your kiosk device, open Google Chrome and go to the URL for the ROLLER Self-Serve Kiosk (SSK) application:

- If hosted on ROLLER, go to: https://selfserve.roller.app
- If your account is being hosted on a custom environment, insert the name of your environment in the URL as follows: https://selfserve.INSERTNAMEHERE.roller.app
- Sign in to your SSK using your ROLLER staff account. If your login is successful you should see the SSK welcome screen.
- Bookmark the SSK URL so you can easily access it again.
- Create a SSK shortcut from your Chrome web browser:

- Select the Chrome options menu (3 dots) in the top-right corner of your browser.
- Scroll down to More Tools.
- Select Create shortcut.
- Select the checkbox Open as Window and click Create.
Configure Chrome settings
- Copy chrome://settings/passwords & paste it into the address bar of a new Chrome tab. Disable Offer to save passwords.
- Copy chrome://settings/payments & paste it into the address bar of a new Chrome tab. Disable Save and fill payment methods.
- Copy chrome://settings/addresses & paste it into the address bar of a new tab: Disable Save and fill addresses.
Set the relevant SSK link as the default page for Google Chrome
- Go to your SSK URL:
- SSK URL: https://selfserve.roller.app
- If your account is being hosted on a custom environment, insert the name of your environment in the URL as follows: https://selfserve.INSERTNAMEHERE.roller.app
- Close down all other tabs so that your SSK is the only page open.
- Copy chrome://settings/onStartup & paste it into the address bar of a new tab. Select Open a specific page or set of pages.
- Select Use current pages and double-check that the SSK URL is the only option that appears.
- Copy chrome://flags/#overscroll-history-navigation & paste it into the address bar of a new tab. Disable the Overscroll History Navigation.
Run a test purchase to check all works as expected:
- Close and re-open Google Chrome.
- Log in to your SSK.
- Run a test purchase.
If you are happy that everything works as expected then proceed to the next step Lock down your SSK with kiosk mode below.
Lock down your SSK with kiosk mode
To make sure your guests can't navigate away from the SSK page, follow these steps:
- On your desktop right-click the Google Chrome icon and select Rename.
- Rename the desktop icon to Self-Serve Kiosk.
- Download the ROLLER icon.
- Right-click the Self-Serve Kiosk Google Chrome icon again and select Properties.
- Select the Change Icon... button. Then click Browse and find the ROLLER icon you just downloaded. Select OK.
- Right-click the self-serve kiosk Google Chrome icon again and select Properties.
- Click in the Target text box & add a space after the existing text & enter the following:
- If hosted on ROLLER, add a space & enter:
--kiosk https://selfserve.roller.app - If hosted on another environment, add a space & enter:
--kiosk https://selfserve.INSERTNAMEHERE.roller.app
- If hosted on ROLLER, add a space & enter:
- Select Apply.
- Select OK.
Configure the SSK Chrome window to open on startup
- Copy the following path & paste it into Windows search: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
- Select the top result that is presented to open the startup folder.
- Keep this start up folder window open and navigate back to your desktop.
- Right-click the Self-Serve Kiosk Google Chrome icon and select Copy.
- Navigate back to the open window > right-click and paste the self-serve kiosk icon into the start up folder.
Test the kiosk flow
You must have at least one session pass ticket schedule available on the day you're testing to load the SSK in the browser.
- Open the Chrome browser using the desktop shortcut and confirm that the SSK launches and loads correctly.
- Log in and proceed through the self-serve kiosk experience. Make sure that you're kiosk is locked down & you are not prompted with auto-fill details for name, address, password, etc.
