Introduction
When a guest pays with Apple Pay, the transaction is linked to a Device Account Number (DAN) rather than their physical card number. This is expected behavior and part of Apple Pay’s security model. To locate an Apple Pay transaction in Venue Manager, you’ll need the last 4 digits of the DAN, not the guest’s card number.
Solution
Search for Apple Pay transactions using the last 4 digits of the guest’s Device Account Number (DAN). The steps below explain how a guest can find their DAN and how to use it to locate transactions in Venue Manager.
Find a guest’s Device Account Number (DAN)
A guest can find the last 4 digits of their Apple Pay card by following these steps on iOS:
- In iOS, select Wallet.
- Select the card that was used.
- Select more options (3 dots).
- Select Card number.
- Note the last 4 digits of the Apple Pay card number.
Search transactions using a guest’s DAN
- From Venue Manager, go to Bookings > Transactions.
- Choose a date or date range for your transaction search, then select Apply.
- Using the search box, enter the last 4 digits of the Device Account Number (DAN) used to make the booking.
- The grid will automatically refresh with the transaction(s) that meet your search criteria. You can use the Status, Channel and Method filters to refine the search criteria and narrow down the list of transactions to find the exact booking you are looking for.
