ROLLER Connect: Why can't I print receipts, even though test pages print?

Prev Next

Fix the primary issue that prevents receipts from printing at the POS, even when your printer successfully prints test pages.

Common symptoms

  • Test pages print successfully from the Windows device

  • No receipt prints after completing a transaction at POS

  • No error message appears in ROLLER POS

Likely causes

Most often, this happens because Use ROLLER Print Service is turned off in POS hardware settings. It can also happen if Windows isn't using the receipt printer as the default.

Fixes

ROLLER Connect must be installed on the POS device and online before you try these steps.

Turn on ROLLER Print Service

  1. From the POS device, open ROLLER POS and log in.

  2. Select More > Settings > Hardware.

  3. Under General Hardware Settings, make sure Use ROLLER Print Service is set to Yes.

  4. If you change the setting to Yes, click Save Settings.

To automatically print receipts, turn on Auto Print receipts in your POS device settings (More > Settings > Device). If you don't have this setting turned on, you'll need to manually select Print receipt in POS each time you process payments.

Check the Windows printer settings

If receipts still don't print, check:

  • The receipt printer is set as the default printer.

  • "Allow Windows to manage my default printer" is disabled.

How to confirm it's fixed

Run a test transaction at POS. The receipt should print automatically (or on clicking Print receipt, depending on your Auto Print receipts setting).
