Enable the POS cash drawer to open without printing a receipt
Preview release (Playground): Yes
Target release date: Tuesday, March 24 (AET)
Venues using cloud printing can now open the POS cash drawer without printing a receipt. Your venue must be using cloud printing to enable this setting.
A new auto open cash drawer setting on the POS device page lets the drawer open automatically when a payment is completed, even when Auto print receipt is turned off. This means staff can complete sales and access the cash drawer without printing unnecessary receipts when guests do not need them.
To enable the cash drawer to open without printing a receipt in POS device settings:
Launch a POS device. From Venue Manager, select Apps > Point of Sale > Launch POS.
Select Settings > Device.
Go to the setting Auto open cash drawer when payment is made (Cloud printing), toggle this setting on.
Select Save Settings. Repeat for all devices that you wish to open the drawer for when a payment is made.
If the setting Open cash drawer for cash payments only is also switched on, the cash drawer only opens for cash payments made.
Send payment links for unpaid bookings via API
You can now send payment links for unpaid bookings directly through the ROLLER API.
This update allows third-party tools and custom apps connected to ROLLER to support booking flows where guests pay after the booking is created, instead of at the time of booking.
For example, if a guest calls your venue to make a booking, a connected app such as your CRM, call center software or custom integration can create the booking in ROLLER, send the guest a secure payment link and automatically update the booking when payment is completed using webhooks.
This means staff can stay in the systems they already use, instead of switching to Venue Manager to generate and send payment links.
