Incentivize guests to book earlier by offering a better price when they plan ahead. Early bird price rules automatically adjust the ticket price based on how far in advance the booking is made — helping you secure revenue sooner, manage capacity and reduce last-minute pressure.
Why use early bird pricing
Early bird pricing helps you:
- Encourage guests to book further in advance
- Reduce last-minute booking spikes
- Improve demand forecasting and staffing
- Offer a clear, automated incentive without needing discount codes
It’s fully automated, easy to manage and the same price rule can be reused across multiple products.
How early bird pricing works
Early bird pricing is based on booking lead time — the number of days before the visit that the guest books.
You set tiers that apply different prices depending on how far in advance the booking is made. For example:
- Book 7+ days before the visit = $27
- Book within 6 days of the visit = $30
Once you've created the price rule, you apply it to the applicable products and set prices per ticket type for each "days before visit" tier (eg Adult, Child) in product settings.
ROLLER automatically applies the correct price at online checkout (progressive), POS and Venue Manager— no manual changes are needed.
Step 1: Create an early bird price rule
- From Venue Manager, go to Products > Price rules.
- Select Early bird pricing.
- Give the rule a name (eg “7-day plus early bird”).
- Set the Days before visit tier(s) to trigger the early bird price. For example:
- 0 to 6 days before the visit (for standard ticket pricing)
- 7 or more days before the visit (for early bird ticket pricing)
- Select Save.
The rule can now be applied to multiple products and then set pricing per ticket type per tier for each product. Read on to learn how.
Step 2: Apply the rule to a product and set prices
- From Venue Manager, go to Products > All products.
- Select a session or standard pass.
- In the product settings, scroll to the product details.
- Choose your early bird rule from the Price rule drop-down.
- In the pricing table, enter prices for each ticket variation per tier.
- Select Save.
ROLLER automatically applies the correct price per ticket at checkout based on how far in advance the guest books.
