Add a discount to your checkout URL so it applies automatically when the cart qualifies — no code entry required by the guest.
This helps reduce checkout friction, increase conversion rates and drive more revenue from promotions, without requiring extra steps for your staff.
Create or select your discount code
Create a new discount code specifically for your checkout URL or edit an existing one.
Select a discount type below to learn more:
Percentage discount (eg 10% off)
Fixed amount discount (eg $5 off)
BOGO offer (eg Buy 1, get 1 free)
Add redemption instructions
Before you can use the code in a checkout URL, you must include redemption instructions when creating or editing the discount. This step is required for the automatic discount to apply during checkout.
Use the redemption instructions to clearly explain the offer and when it applies so guests know what to expect.
Here are examples for each discount type:
Percentage discount: Get 15% off all online bookings made in June. Discount applies automatically at checkout.
Fixed amount discount: Save $10 when you book any one-hour sessions online in July. Discount applies automatically.
BOGO offer: Book two laser tag sessions and get the second free — available for online bookings made before 30 June. Discount applies automatically when both are added to your cart.
Test the code with your checkout URL
After you create your discount code and add redemption instructions, test the code to make sure it works in your checkout URL.
- Open your progressive checkout.
- Add ?code=yourdiscountcode to the end of the URL eg ?code=WEEKDAY15
- Press enter to load the page.
- Confirm that a discount pop-up appears at the top of the checkout — this means the code is working.
Share the link with your guests
Once you've confirmed the discount is working, you need to share the full URL with the discount code included.
To share the discount:
- Copy the full URL including the discount code (eg www.examplevenue.com/checkout?code=20OFFAPRIL).
- Paste it into your marketing emails, website buttons, social media posts or other promotional channels.
- Include a short message explaining the offer and that no code entry is required — it's applied automatically when eligible.
FAQs
Can I stack or combine multiple discount codes in one URL?
No. Only one code can be used in the checkout URL.
What happens if the cart doesn’t meet the discount’s conditions?
The discount won’t apply. The guest continues through checkout without seeing the discount unless their cart qualifies.
Where do I find my progressive checkout URL?
In Venue Manager, go to Apps > Progressive checkouts. Select the checkout you want to apply the discount to from the list.
