In this guide, you’ll learn how to integrate your Linkly bank-supported card terminals with ROLLER POS.
About Linkly
Linkly is a third-party, bank-provided EFTPOS service that connects your card terminal to ROLLER POS. Venues typically use Linkly when their bank supplies and supports the terminal or where ROLLER Payments isn’t yet available for in-person payments.
Before you begin
Confirm with your bank that you’ll be using a Linkly integration and apply for any Linkly credentials you need.
If you’re planning to migrate to our Linkly integration, let the ROLLER support team know.
1. Prepare each POS device
Follow the setup steps on every POS device you plan to use with Linkly.
See Prepare your hardware for ROLLER POS.
2. Install Linkly on each POS device
Organise for the Linkly software to be installed on each POS device.
- Your bank’s technicians will usually install and configure Linkly.
- If your bank can’t assist, contact Linkly support.
3. Confirm the Linkly icon is green
This is the most important check.
ROLLER POS won’t integrate with Linkly unless the Linkly icon is green on the POS device. A green icon means Linkly is running and ready to accept transactions.
Find the Linkly icon
On the POS desktop, select the up arrow (Show hidden icons ^). If the device is touch-screen, press and hold the same area to show the icons.
Look for the Linkly icon.
If the Linkly icon is not green (yellow or red)
If the icon is yellow or red, Linkly is not ready yet. Do these steps in order:
Check power and cables
Make sure the terminal is plugged in correctly and switched on.Restart the POS device
Restart Windows, sign in again, then check the icon.Check standalone mode
Make sure standalone mode is switched off.
If you’re unsure how to check this, contact Linkly support.Escalate to your bank
If the icon is still yellow or red, contact your bank’s technicians to reconfigure the device.
Only continue once the Linkly icon is green.
If you’re having issues processing payments, confirm the icon is green before contacting the ROLLER support team. If yellow or red, contact your bank's technicians.
4. Update the ROLLER Connect settings
Update the ROLLER Connect settings on the POS device to enable Linkly.
ROLLER Connect Windows Service
Open the ROLLER Connect settings file at C:\ProgramData\ROLLER\rc.toml. Right-click the file and select Open with > Notepad. Make sure you’re signed in to Windows as an administrator before editing.
ROLLER Connect Legacy
From the system tray, right-click the ROLLER Connect Legacy icon, then select Edit Settings ...
If you're using a touch screen, press and hold the icon. If you use a keyboard only, select the icon and press the context-menu key (or Shift+F10).
Update the setting so it reads:
TerminalType = "PCEftpos"
Save the file and close it.
If you’re using ROLLER Connect Legacy, restart ROLLER Connect Legacy.
If you’re using ROLLER Connect Windows Service, contact the ROLLER support team if you need help restarting the service.
5. Test the integration
To test the connection to the Linkly server, select the green Linkly icon.
Select Ctrl Panel (the Linkly control panel), then select Logon to sign the terminal on.
Once the device is logged on, open ROLLER POS and run a test card transaction.
If the integration is working, a Linkly popup appears.
