The Wastage overview report gives you a dedicated view of stock lost to spoilage, breakage, staff comps, and expiry, so you can see what's being wasted, why, and how much it's costing the venue.
This is an operations report, not a financial report. It's designed to support day-to-day decisions about your stock. It is not a financial report for accounting or tax reporting.
Premium feature
Stock wastage recording and reporting is a Premium Plus+ feature. To unlock this feature with a Premium plan and above, contact your customer success manager or the support team.
What is this report used for?
Use the Wastage report to support operational decisions about your food and beverage stock. For example, you might use it to:
Identify which stock items are wasted most often, and investigate why.
Spot patterns by reason: spoilage, breakage, staff comps, or expiry, to target where to focus.
See which staff members are recording wastage, to support training or accountability conversations.
Track the total cost impact of wastage to your venue.
How to run the report
To access the Wastage overview report:
From Venue Manager, go to Reports > All reports.
Scroll to the Operations section and select Wastage overview.

Group and filter the report results
The Wastage overview report is grouped by Reason by default, so you can see wastage broken down by spoilage, breakage, staff comp, and expiry at a glance.
Regroup the report: drag and drop column headers to regroup by Product, Stock type, Staff member, or Date instead of the default Reason grouping.
Date range: use the date selector at the top of the page to choose a day, date, or range.
What data can I see?
Column | Description |

Product name | The name of the stock product that was recorded as wastage. |
Date | Date the wastage was recorded. |
Qty wasted | The quantity of the item recorded as wastage within the selected date range. |
Stock type | Whether the product is Food & beverage, Retail, Miscellaneous or Untagged. |
Reported by | The staff member who recorded the wastage entry. |
Total wastage cost | The cost of goods (COGS) value for the quantity wasted. |
At the top of the report, you'll also see totals for:
Total wastage (total cost of wasted stock)
Total incidents (number of wastage events)
Items wasted (total quantity of items wasted)
Top reason (wastage reason with the highest quantity of wasted items)
Top item (item with the highest total quantity wasted)
Make sure the report shows accurate data
For the Wastage overview report to be useful, wastage needs to be recorded, and the underlying stock products need to be set up correctly.
Record wastage in POS or Venue Manager
The data in this report depends on staff members recording wastage in POS or Venue Manager.

Enter the cost of goods on each stock variation
Without an accurate cost of goods value, the total wastage cost in this report will be misleading.
Each variation of a stock product should have a value in the COGS field.

Ensure stock products are classified correctly
For items to be reported under the correct stock type, each product needs to be labelled accordingly. Anything without a stock type selected will be classified as Untagged.
You can update the stock type in the Additional options section of the product using the drop down.

Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't my product appear in the Wastage overview report?
Only items with a recorded wastage entry appear in this report. If an item is missing, confirm wastage was recorded within the selected date range.
Can I record wastage for items with zero or unlimited stock on hand?
No. Recording wastage in POS isn't available for items with zero or unlimited quantity on hand.
Who can record wastage?
Staff need the Can record wastage in POS permission to record wastage in POS without a Manager PIN. Manager and administrator system roles have this permission by default. It isn't enabled for the POS operator role by default, but it can be added to a custom role.
Can I regroup the report by something other than reason?
Yes. Drag and drop column headers to regroup by Product, Stock type, Staff member, or Date instead of the default Reason grouping.
