When staff take a payment, your POS device and card terminal need to reach ROLLER Payments over your network. This guide explains the network access your team or IT team needs to allow so payments can process reliably.
Before you start
You may need help from your IT team or network provider, especially if you manage firewalls, content filters or DNS allowlists.
Make sure you know:
Whether your network uses a firewall or web filter that requires allowlisting.
Whether your terminals should use DHCP (automatic IP assignment) or a static IP (you enter IP details manually).
Your terminal admin passcode, which you can find in ROLLER POS.
Configure your network
Allow required domains (DNS allowlist)
If your network requires allowlisting, configure your firewall to allow outbound HTTPS traffic from your POS devices and card terminals to:
*.adyen.com*.adyenpayments.com
Notes:
- Allowlisting (sometimes called whitelisting) should be based on the DNS name of these URLs.
- Your firewall should dynamically check for IP address updates, at least every 60 seconds.
- Do not hard-code these IP addresses, as these can change over time.
Allow required ports
Allow these ports based on your setup:
-
Outbound to the internet:
tcp/443 -
On your LAN (local network):
tcp/8443
Configure the terminal IP address
There are two ways to assign an IP address to a card terminal:
- Dynamic IP (DHCP): Your DHCP server assigns an IP address to the terminal.
- Static IP: You manually enter an IP address and related network details on the terminal.
By default, DHCP is enabled on the card terminal.
Set a static IP on the terminal
On the card terminal:
- Open the Admin menu by pressing 9 and then press Green.
- Enter the passcode, if prompted. Press Green again. You can find the passcode in POS under More > Settings > Device.
-
Select Network, then choose your connection type:
Connection type Select ... Wired Ethernet Wireless WiFi > Wi-Fi network > IP Settings. - In IP Settings, deseclect Use DHCP.
- Enter your network details. Note: To type a period (.), press 1 twice.
- IP address
- Subnet mask
- Default gateway
- Preferred DNS
- Alternate DNS
- Select Apply.
- The static IP address must be unique on your network.
- If you have more than one terminal, use a different static IP for each terminal.
Wi-Fi requirements
To connect your ROLLER Payments card terminals over WiFi, your access point should support:
- WPA/WPA2-Enterprise encryption, or WPA/WPA2-Personal encryption.
- 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz frequencies.
If the terminal shows it’s connected to Wi-Fi, that doesn’t always mean it can reach the internet. If payments fail, check:
Your internet connection from the Wi-Fi network.
Your firewall and allowlist rules.
