A price rule holds your tiers. The product holds the prices. Once you've created a rule, apply it to a product and set a price for each ticket variation in each tier. ROLLER then applies the right price automatically, across every sales channel you sell on.
The steps are the same whatever kind of rule you've built. Only the tier columns change.
How it works
A price rule sets the tiers and the conditions that trigger them. It carries no prices of its own. When you apply a rule to a product, the variations table gains a column for each tier, and you set the price for every ticket variation in every tier.
That split is what lets one rule cover many products. A single "Weekend pricing" rule can sit on your day pass, your session pass and your party package, with different prices on each.
What you set | Where you set it |
|---|---|
Tiers and the conditions that trigger them | The price rule, in Products > Price rules |
The price for each variation in each tier | The product, in the variations table |
Before you start
Create the price rule first. You can't apply a rule that doesn't exist yet, and the tiers have to be right before you price them, because editing tiers later means unlinking the rule from every product using it.
Considerations
One rule per product. A product can use one price rule at a time. The same rule can be reused across as many products as you like.
Not every rule suits every product. Check the rule type against your product before you start. See How price rules work with different product types.
Packages price the pass only. On a package, the rule applies to the session or standard pass inside it. Inclusion prices (eg food, drinks, merchandise) stay the same across all tiers. A package can only take a price rule when it includes a single pass at a quantity of one.
Party packages price the party tickets only. Inclusions stay the same across all tiers.
New bookings only. Changing a price updates new bookings. Bookings already taken keep the price they were sold at.
HQ products. If the product came from HQ, the Price rule drop-down may be locked. HQ owns the pricing structure on the products it creates.
Apply the rule and set prices
From Venue Manager:
Go to Products > All products.
Select the product you want to price.
Scroll to the price rule section. Where it sits depends on the product type. See the table below.
Select your rule from the Price rule drop-down. The variations table updates to show a column for each tier in the rule.
Available in English-speaking locales only: If you haven't set up any price rules yet, you already have one. Weekday/Weekend Pricing is a time-based rule that prices every day at base price except Saturday and Sunday. Find it in Products > Price rules, or select it from the Price rule drop-down in a supported product’s settings. Nothing uses it until you apply it to a product, and you can change its days, tiers and prices like any other rule.
For each ticket variation (eg Adult, Child), enter the price for each tier.
Optional: select the checkout display checkbox below the variations table. The checkbox you see depends on the rule type. See the table below.
Select Save.
The permission required to apply a price rule to a product is Can edit products. Administrators and managers have this permission enabled by default. To create or edit the rule itself, you also need Can manage price rules.
Where the price rule section sits
Product type | Scroll to |

Session pass | Session pass details |
Standard pass | Standard pass details |
Package | Price rule |
Party package | [TBC: confirm which section heading] |
What the tier columns look like
The tier columns come from the rule you applied, so they change with the rule type.
Rule type | Column heading | Tier columns |
|---|---|---|
Quantity-based | Price per ticket (AUD) per tier | Generated from your quantity thresholds (eg 1-5 tickets, 6+) |
Time-based | Price per ticket (AUD) per tier | Base price, then the tier names you set (eg Peak price, Holiday price) |
Early bird | Price per variation per days in advance | Generated from your lead times (eg 0-7 days, 8+) |
Capacity-based |
On a package, the first tier price is read-only. It comes from the passes in the package, and you set the later tiers only.
Which checkout display checkbox appears
One checkbox appears below the variations table, matching the rule you applied.
Rule type | Checkbox |
|---|---|
Quantity-based | Show quantity savings on checkout |
Time-based | Show price comparisons on checkout |
Early bird | Highlight early bird pricing on checkout |
Capacity-based |
These checkboxes control what guests see in the online checkout, not what they pay. To learn what each one shows a guest, see How price rules display in the online checkout.
The checkbox is selected by default on products you create from now on. On products you already have, check the box on each one you want it on for.
Check it works
Confirm the rule is working before you rely on it.
Open your online checkout and add tickets until you cross into the next tier. The price should update on its own.
Create a test booking in POS and in Venue Manager, and check the same tier applies.
If the price doesn't change, check that the rule is still selected in the Price rule drop-down and that you've entered a price in every tier column.
