Set up and tag your reseller products

Prev Next

Create dedicated reseller products, apply your reseller price rules, and group them using product tags. Tagging products into groups allows you to instantly grant multiple resellers access to new experiences without updating individual reseller records.

You create reseller products the same way you create standard products. This guide covers the configuration decisions specific to resellers and how to tag your reseller products.

Advanced channel management add-on

Let your resellers book your tickets themselves, with every booking recorded in ROLLER. Available on all plans with the advanced channel management add-on. The reseller portal is in early access. To add it or learn more, contact your customer success manager or the support team.

Before you begin

Create your reseller price rule before setting up your products. The rule must exist to appear in the product's Price rule drop-down.

The permission required to create and edit product tags is Can edit products. Administrators and managers have this permission enabled by default.

Create reseller products as their own set

We recommend creating dedicated reseller products rather than using your guest-facing ones. There are typically two kinds:

  • Products only resellers sell: Specialized experiences like private encounters, group activities or school programs.

  • Reseller versions of existing products: A product can only use one price rule at a time. If your standard product already uses a time-based or quantity-based rule for guests, you cannot also apply a reseller price rule to it. Creating a separate reseller version of the product allows you to keep your existing guest pricing intact while applying the correct reseller rates for your resellers.

Apply your reseller price rule to each product as you build it, and set a price for every tier on every variation. Make sure to price every tier before assigning it to a reseller.

Plan for stock and checkout add-ons

  • Stock: You can sell stock to resellers, but stock products cannot use reseller price rules. To offer stock at multiple reseller rates, create a separate stock product for each rate.

  • Checkout add-ons: A reseller sees an add-on at checkout only when it's assigned to their reseller record, as well as its parent product, which is added to the checkout. The simplest way is to add the add-on to the same reseller tag as its parent product.

  • Excluded products: Memberships, gift cards, multi-passes, wallets and cashless cards cannot be sold through the reseller portal. Do not include these in your reseller tags.

How product tags work

Product tags group your products. Create a tag and link your reseller products to it. Then add the tag to the reseller record of each reseller who sells those products, and to your reseller checkout. After that, add or remove products in the tag only. Your reseller records and reseller checkout update for you.

Create one tag per group of products, not per individual item. For example, if your tour operators get encounters and your hotel partners get general admission, create two tags.

Rule of thumb: Your tags are too broad if they give some resellers access to products they shouldn't see, and too narrow if you create a separate tag for every single product.

Name your reseller tags

Product tags are internal to your team, but we recommend standardizing how you name them:

  • Prefix with "reseller": Start every reseller tag with reseller (eg reseller tickets). This groups them together alphabetically and separates them from your guest product tags.

  • Keep it lowercase: Tags aren't case sensitive, but lowercase names are easier to scan in a list.

  • Name the group, not the item: Use category names like reseller encounters rather than specific names like reseller penguin feed.

Product tags are visible only to your team. Resellers see the section names you set on your reseller checkout.

Tag your reseller products

  1. From Venue Manager, go to Settings > Product tags.

  2. Select Create tag.

  3. Enter a Name, following your naming conventions. Names can be up to 50 characters.

  4. In the Products section, search for and select the reseller products you want to include in the tag, and any add-ons you want to recommend that resellers book with them in the checkout flow.

  5. Select Save.

See the Edit tag panel with the tag name, its linked reseller products and the Checkouts section showing where the tag is used

To check a tag is on your reseller checkout, go to Settings > Product tags and select the tag. The Checkouts section lists every checkout that uses it.

You can also tag a product while you're creating it. In the Tags field of the product settings page, select an existing tag, or type the tag name and select Create [tag name].

To rename, delete or check where a tag is used, see Create and organize product tags in Venue Manager.

Next steps in your setup

Now that your products are set up and tagged, you are ready to create records and contacts for your resellers. See Create a reseller record and contacts.

Then add your reseller tags to your reseller checkout, where your resellers sign in and book. See Set up and share your reseller checkout.

FAQs

Can I use my guest product tags for resellers?

You can, but any product you add to that tag for guests will also become available to every reseller assigned that tag. Using separate reseller tags prevents accidental cross-publishing.

Do I need to update reseller records after I add a product to a tag?

No. Resellers with that tag can book the new product, as long as it's on your reseller checkout. If your checkout sections use your reseller tags, it's added there automatically.

Can I give a reseller more than one tag?

Yes. A reseller who sells both general admission and encounters can hold both tags. You do not need to create a combined tag just for them.
