Get started with discount codes

Prev Next

Discount codes are a great way to reward your guests, boost sales, and attract new business. Use them to run special promotions, offer seasonal deals, or encourage repeat visits to your venue.

Guests can use these codes to redeem discounts when checking out online or at self-service kiosks. Staff can also apply these discounts to purchases made at POS or through Venue Manager.

In this guide, we’ll walk through the value of offering discounts and the options available in ROLLER.

How discounts can support your venue

Discounts aren’t just about lowering prices — they’re a strategic tool that can appeal to your guests while driving business growth. Here’s how:

  1. Attract new guests
Discounts are a great way to capture the attention of potential guests. A compelling deal or promo code can encourage first-timers to give your venue a try.

  2. Boost sale and upsell value
Discounts encourage guests to spend more. For instance, a Buy & Get deal can lead to higher average order values by enticing guests to add additional items to their cart.

  3. Drive repeat business
Rewarding your guests with discounts creates a sense of appreciation and loyalty. A small discount can leave a lasting impression, increasing the likelihood of repeat visits.

  4. Clear inventory and fill low-traffic sessions
Use discounts strategically to move slow-selling items, clear seasonal stock, or attract guests to visit during traditionally quieter periods. This can help stabilize cash flow during quieter business periods.

  5. Enhance guest satisfaction
Everyone loves a good deal. Offering discounts can enhance your guests’ overall experience, making them feel they’ve received exceptional value for their money.

  6. Target specific guests
Restrict a discount so only guests in a chosen segment can redeem it. Useful for VIP perks, member-only deals, win-back offers, or any promotion where you want to keep eligibility tight. See Create and manage guest segments for how to set up segments.

Discount permissions

Control who can create, edit, and manage discount codes by assigning these permissions to staff roles.

  1. Can access discount code settings
This permission lets staff create, edit, and archive discount codes. Use this permission to give trusted team members full control over discount configuration and management — without opening up unrelated product or pricing settings.

Included by default in administrator and manager system roles, and any custom roles based on these roles.

  2. Can view discounts
This permission lets staff view all active discount codes and their settings, without the ability to make changes. Use this permission when team members need visibility into current offers, eligibility rules, or promotion tracking — without risking accidental edits.
Included by default in administrator and manager system roles, and any custom roles based on these roles.

Discounts available in ROLLER

ROLLER offers a few flexible discount options, so you can create discount codes that align with your business goals and appeal to your guests.

Percentage

Reduces the price by a specific percentage.

  • Example: A 15% off discount on all session passes. If a guest’s total is $100, they’ll pay $85 after the discount is applied.

  • Use it to: Reward guests for larger purchases or give them a meaningful price break across multiple items.

Check out the Create a percentage discount code article.

Fixed amount

Subtracts a set dollar amount from the total.

  • Example: A $10 off discount on a t-shirt. If the shirt costs $25, the guest will only pay $15 after applying the discount code.

  • Use it to: Offer straightforward savings, making it easy for guests to see exactly what they’re getting.

Check out the Create a fixed amount discount code article.

Buy and get

Offers a free or discounted product when a guest purchases a specific product using the code. Discounts can be percentage-based or a fixed amount.

  • Example: A Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal on weekday jump packages. If a guest adds 3 packages to their cart, they’ll only be charged for 2.

  • Use it to: Encourage guests to add more items to their cart by offering something free or discounted after they buy a certain quantity.

Check out the Create a Buy & Get discount code article.

Flat price

Sets a specific price that the guest will pay for a product or service, no matter the original price.

  • Example: A flat price of $20 on a hoodie. Even if the hoodie usually costs $35, the guest will only pay $20 when they use the discount code.

  • Use it to: Make pricing simple and appealing by giving guests a clear, guaranteed price.
