Give guests a ticket with a code your staff can scan at the door, whether they buy at the counter or online. You choose where guests get their tickets and whether each guest gets their own ticket or one ticket covers the booking. To change what each ticket shows, see the guide Customize ticket templates.
Use this guide to set up master and itemized tickets for POS, booking confirmation emails and digital wallets.
What you'll do
Compare master and itemized tickets.
Choose where guests get their tickets.
Set up printed, emailed or wallet tickets.
(Optional) Create a ticket for each item in a package.
Test your tickets.
Before you begin
Printed tickets: a printer set up with cloud printing or ROLLER Connect. See Get started with cloud printing or Install ROLLER Connect. Sticker and wristband tickets need ROLLER Connect.
Wallet tickets: progressive checkouts, which need ROLLER Payments. See Create your online checkout.
Compare master and itemized tickets
Itemized ticket | Master ticket | |
|---|---|---|
What guests get | One ticket for each pass in the booking | One ticket for the booking. At POS, it covers the tickets staff select. |
Example | A booking for 7 adults gets 7 tickets | A booking for 7 adults gets 1 ticket |
Scanning | Each guest scans their own ticket, which shows the booking number and ticket number (eg 111632769-384922420) | One ticket shows one code for the booking, which holds the booking number (eg 111632769) |
Best for | Most venues, and venues with entry gates | Groups arriving together, with one person holding the tickets |
Choose where guests get their tickets
Each place a guest gets a ticket has its own setting for master or itemized, and its own layout. Setting one doesn't change the others. Select where your guests get tickets to go straight to that section.
Where guests get it | Master or itemized is set in | What it shows is set in |
|---|---|---|
Printed at POS with cloud printing | Print master tickets in each POS device's settings (More > Settings > Device). POS prints itemized tickets unless it's on. With it on, staff choose Itemized or Master each time a ticket prints. | The POS itemized ticket and POS master ticket templates in Settings > Design > Ticket templates. See Customize printed tickets. |
Printed at POS with ROLLER Connect (legacy) | Nowhere. ROLLER Connect tickets use a fixed layout you can't change. See Check what ROLLER Connect tickets show. | |
Sticker or wristband (ROLLER Connect) | Always one per guest. Leave Print master tickets off on POS devices that print stickers or wristbands, and turn on sticker or wristband printing for each product in Additional options > Alternative printer. | Nowhere. The layout is fixed and you can't change it. |
The Order confirmation email template, under Attachments in its Settings tab (Settings > Design > Email templates) | The Master ticket and Itemized ticket templates in Settings > Design > Ticket templates | |
Itemized digital tickets in the Add to wallet tab of progressive checkout settings (Apps > Progressive checkouts > Settings) | The Add to wallet tab in Apps > Progressive checkouts > Settings. Wallet logos are set in Settings > Design > Brand and appearance. |
Set up printed tickets
ROLLER prints tickets at POS with cloud printing or ROLLER Connect. Cloud printing is the current method, and it's the only one that lets you change what printed tickets show. ROLLER Connect is a legacy method for printers connected directly to a POS device. You can still use it for sticker and wristband tickets, which cloud printing doesn't print yet.
Cloud printing | ROLLER Connect (legacy) | |
|---|---|---|
Printers | Supported Epson ePOS printers on your network (Ethernet or WiFi) | Printers connected to a POS device, managed through Windows |
What tickets show | You choose. Add your logo, footer text and a promotional image, show or hide prices and print a QR code or barcode. | Fixed. You can't add, remove or move anything. |
Master and itemized tickets | Supported | Supported |
Sticker and wristband tickets | Not currently supported | Supported |
You can use both. A POS device can print receipts and tickets with cloud printing, and stickers or wristbands with ROLLER Connect.
The permission required to change POS device settings is Can adjust POS settings (device & hardware). Administrators have this permission enabled by default.
Turn on ticket printing on each POS device
From POS:
Go to More > Settings > Device.
Turn on Print tickets.
(Optional) To print tickets without staff selecting print, turn on Auto print tickets. Tickets print when staff select Go to booking. To print them once the booking is fully paid instead, also turn on Auto print tickets when purchased.
(Optional) To let staff print master tickets, turn on Print master tickets under Printing.
Select Save Settings.
Repeat these steps on every POS device that prints tickets. For every setting on this page, see the guide Manage individual POS device settings.
POS prints itemized tickets by default. With Print master tickets on, POS asks staff to Select ticket type to print each time this device prints, including automatic printing. Staff select Itemized for one ticket per pass or Master for one ticket for the booking. A master ticket covers the tickets staff selected, so if staff select 3 of the 7 tickets in a booking, the master ticket lists 3 x Adults.

Next, set up what your tickets show. The steps depend on how your venue prints.
Cloud printing: Customize printed tickets.
ROLLER Connect: Check what ROLLER Connect tickets show.
Customize printed tickets (cloud printing)
With cloud printing, you choose what printed tickets show by editing the POS itemized ticket and POS master ticket templates in Settings > Design > Ticket templates. You can:
Add your logo, business name and contact details.
Show or hide prices.
Print a QR code instead of the default barcode.
Add footer text, a promotional image and a GX Score survey link.
If you turned on Print master tickets, customize the POS master ticket too.
For the steps and every field you can change, see Customize printed tickets at POS with cloud printing in the guide Customize ticket templates.
Check what ROLLER Connect tickets show
ROLLER Connect prints from fixed templates, so you can't change what its tickets show. In short:
Itemized tickets show the ticket type (eg 1 x Adults), the ticket number and a QR code for that ticket.
Master tickets show the ticket type and quantity (eg 3 x Adults), the booking number and one QR code for the booking.
Sticker and wristband tickets show the guest's name from their waiver and their session times.
Itemized and master tickets print to the receipt printer set as the default printer in Windows.
For everything each ticket shows, see What ROLLER Connect tickets printed at POS show in the guide Customize ticket templates.
Print sticker and wristband tickets (ROLLER Connect)
Stickers and wristbands print from ROLLER Connect, so you can use them alongside cloud printing.
Stickers show each guest's age category, so staff can see at a glance which guests belong to which session. Each POS device prints to one sticker printer, set up in More > Settings > Hardware.
Wristbands print to a printer chosen by the session end time, so you can use a different wristband color for each end time. You set the printers in Venue Manager under Settings > Printers, and they apply to all POS devices.
Turn on sticker or wristband printing for each product. From Venue Manager:
Go to Products > All products.
Select the session pass or party package.
Scroll to Additional options > Alternative printer.
Select This product uses alternate ticket printer for stickers, or This product uses ticket printers based on session time for wristbands. You can select both.
Select Save.

Don't turn on sticker printing for standard passes. ROLLER Connect stops printing if it's asked to print a sticker for a standard pass.
Stickers and wristbands print one per guest, so they can't carry one code for the whole booking. For that, print a master ticket to a receipt printer. On POS devices that print stickers or wristbands, leave Print master tickets off.
For printers, paper sizes and setup, see the guides ROLLER Connect: Sticker ticket printing fact sheet and Wristband ticket printing based on end session times from POS. If you don't see Printers in Venue Manager, contact your customer success manager or the support team.
To add your branding to stickers or wristbands, print onto pre-branded paper rolls. Keep your logo and text clear of the area where the ticket details print.
Set up emailed tickets
Choose which tickets guests can download from their booking confirmation email. You can include the master ticket or the itemized tickets. If you add both, guests get itemized tickets.
If you sell recurring passes, itemized tickets put each class on its own page, and the master ticket lists every class date and time.
The permission required to edit email templates is Can edit email templates. Administrators have this permission enabled by default.
From Venue Manager:
Go to Settings > Design > Email templates.
Select Order confirmation.
Select the Settings tab.
Under Attachments, use Select attachment to choose Itemized tickets PDF or Master ticket PDF, then select Add. To remove one, select the X next to it.
Select Save.
.png)
Guests get these tickets as download links in the email. ROLLER sends links instead of attached files so your emails are less likely to land in spam.
The top of the email can also show the master ticket's QR code and a Print tickets button. To turn these on or off, open the Order confirmation template, then select the Content tab and the Greeting panel. See the guide Customize email templates.
To change what the emailed tickets show, customize the Master ticket and Itemized ticket templates. See the guide Customize ticket templates.
Set up digital wallet tickets
Guests can add their passes to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from their booking. Wallet tickets are available on all plans. By default, all passes in a booking sit under one barcode in the wallet.
The permission required to change progressive checkout settings is Can manage online checkout settings. Administrators have this permission enabled by default.
To create a wallet ticket for each pass, from Venue Manager:
Go to Apps > Progressive checkouts > Settings.
Select the Add to wallet tab.
Select Itemized digital tickets.
Select Save.
Apple Wallet lets guests download up to 10 tickets per booking, so a booking with more than 10 passes won't show every pass. For the wallet ticket's colors and logo, see the guide Configure digital wallet memberships and passes.

Create a ticket for each item in a package
By default, a package or party package creates one ticket for the whole package. To create a ticket for each item in the package, so staff can check in each pass on its own, from Venue Manager:
Go to Products > All products, then select the package or party package.
Scroll to Additional options.
Select Itemized tickets.
Select Save.
Test your tickets
Check each ticket before guests see it.
Printed tickets: From POS, open a booking with tickets on it and select the print icon next to a ticket. Check it prints in full and the code scans at your check-in point.
Emailed tickets: Make a test booking with your own email address and open the download links in the confirmation email.
Wallet tickets: Add a test booking to your phone's wallet from the booking confirmation screen and scan it.
If tickets don't print, check Print tickets is on for that POS device. If it's on and tickets still don't print, contact your customer success manager or the support team.
FAQs
Does changing my printed tickets change the tickets guests get by email?
No. POS, email and wallet tickets each have their own master or itemized setting, and printed and emailed tickets have their own templates.
Can I use cloud printing and ROLLER Connect at the same time?
Yes. A POS device can print receipts, tickets and dockets with cloud printing and print sticker or wristband tickets with ROLLER Connect.
Can I change what a ROLLER Connect ticket shows?
No. ROLLER Connect templates are fixed. To add your branding to stickers or wristbands, print onto pre-branded paper rolls.
Why didn't a sticker or wristband print for an older booking?
Tickets added to a booking before you turned on sticker or wristband printing for that product keep their original print setup. Remove the tickets from the booking and add them again to print them with the new setup.
